Companies are willing to offer higher salaries to candidates with superior cognitive abilities because these skills allow for better learning in changing environments and reduce susceptibility to behavioral biases. Cognitive reasoning is essential to making the right decisions at work, and making the right decisions is what leads to the success of your company. Implementing cognitive skills tests during the selection process will help you hire smarter and more effectively. Here is a list of pre-employment cognitive ability tests that may be useful for your business: 1. Numerical Reasoning Test Assessing candidates' overall aptitude with numbers is useful for a wide variety of positions, especially positions in finance and accounting. You can use the Numerical Reasoning test to determine if your applicants are proficient at interpreting numbers, fractions, percentages, tables, graphs, and diagrams. 2. Verbal Reasoning Test This test is ideal for any position that requires good use of language and reasoning. Spatial Reasoning Test Spatial Reasoning refers to the ability to analyze 2- and 3-dimensional objects in space.

Mechanical Reasoning Test Using a Mechanical Reasoning test in your selection process allows you to evaluate the candidate's level of understanding of basic mechanical and physical concepts. This is particularly useful if you are hiring technicians, electricians, plumbers, machine operators, or technical salespeople, among others. 5.
